Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to perform routine and emergency maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a wide range of industrial machinery and systems. This position plays a critical role in ensuring maximum uptime, production efficiency, and safety in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical and electrical skills, experience with industrial equipment, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Principal Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on production machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance
Install, set up, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components on machines and systems
Conduct welding and fabrication tasks, including stick welding, for repairs and modifications
Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs during production operations
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and prepare machinery for production runs
Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical issues, repairing or replacing parts as necessary
Collaborate with industrial electricians and other team members to complete complex projects
Read and interpret manuals, work orders, and maintenance instructions to guide repair work
Use hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment safely and effectively
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain clean, organized work areas
Provide professional customer service by addressing maintenance needs promptly
Assist in technical problem-solving and vendor collaboration for parts and services
Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience maintaining industrial equipment, including controls, steam boilers, hydraulic presses, hoists, motors, pumps, ovens, safety controls, belts, compressed air, fittings, and exhaust fan systems
Strong mechanical knowledge with electrical training, including 480V 3-phase systems, controls, VFD drives, PLCs, relays, and troubleshooting steam traps
Skilled in seal replacements, hydraulic press repair, boiler maintenance, and lubrication systems
Welding, fabrication, and basic carpentry experience required
Ability to operate forklifts safely for equipment and material handling
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills
Excellent communication skills with ability to collaborate across teams and vendors
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; additional training or certifications a plus
Familiarity with Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures and commitment to safety
Must maintain a valid Connecticut driver’s license
Eligible to work in the United States; successful completion of pre-employment background check and drug screen
Work Environment & Safety
Clean manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, alarms, and material handling systems
Requires bending, lifting, and carrying heavy molds and equipment (up to 70 lbs)
Standing and walking for extended periods with occasional stooping, kneeling, and crouching
Personal protective equipment required: protective eyewear, heat-retardant gloves, toe guards, and seat belts when driving forklifts; lumbar support optional
