Job Description – Material Handler (Manufacturing Environment)
Location: East Granby, CT 06026
Type: Temp or Temp-to-Perm (Potential depending on business needs)
Pay: $19.00 – $22.00/hr
Shifts:
1st Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Split Shift: 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM
First Day Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Position Details
This role supports the flow of materials, parts, and components throughout a busy aerospace manufacturing facility. Candidates should have a strong understanding of machining, manufacturing workflows, and reading job travelers/operation sheets. Former machinists are often strong fits due to familiarity with production processes.
Your Expertise
Candidates must meet the core Material Handler requirements and have a solid understanding of shop-floor operations.
Required:
3+ years’ experience in an aerospace production or machining environment
Strong attention to detail with the ability to multi-task
Ability to interpret travelers, operation sheets, and basic manufacturing documentation
Comfortable making decisions based on data and instruction
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word & Excel)
Forklift certification a plus
High school diploma or equivalent required
Preferred Manufacturing/Machining Skills (from CNC Machinist job):
These are not required but are highly valued due to the nature of the shop:
Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, operations sheets, micrometers, gauges
Understanding of manual machining workflows (manual lathes, VTLs, Mazak/Mori-Seiki/Leblond equipment)
Familiar with Lean, 6S, and general aerospace manufacturing standards
Ability to communicate with Engineering regarding part flow, tooling condition, and setup considerations
Your Challenge
In this role you will support material movement, inventory flow, and production readiness across the facility.
Maintain and organize material storage areas daily
Coordinate with Operations to move parts and materials, expediting job orders around the facility
Operate a lift truck or hand truck to move or hoist materials or products
Perform Shipping & Receiving tasks: ship semi-finished goods, raw materials, consumable tooling, etc.
Review receiving documents for accuracy; reject damaged items, record shortages, document discrepancies
Wear required PPE and comply with all safety rules and regulations
Support overall manufacturing flow with an understanding of part routing and production priorities
Additional:
Two openings available (1st shift or split shift)
Job is currently temp, but could convert to temp-to-hire depending on business demand
This role is similar to previous warehouse positions but requires deeper manufacturing understanding
Ability to read job travelers, operation sheets, and part flow documents is essential
Former machinists or candidates with machining exposure are excellent fits
