Location: College Park, MD
Shift: 5:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Pay: $23 – $32/hour (based on experience)
Type: 6-Month Temp-to-Hire

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Perform thorough tests on various rail car systems, including:
    • HVAC
    • Brakes
    • Propulsion
    • Communication Systems
    • Toilet Systems
    • Trainline Systems
    • Sign Systems
    • Automatic Train Control Systems
    • Hipotential, Burn-in, Pneumatic Leakage, Wiring Continuity, and Dynamic Tests
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and modify electrical and mechanical components on rail cars.
  • Read and interpret piping diagrams, mechanical drawings, technical manuals, and electrical schematics.
  • Use standard hand tools, multi-meters, clamp meters, and PC-based test/diagnostic equipment.
  • Fill out all test record sheets, create rejection reports, and complete all required documentation.
  • Occasionally assist the engineering group on specialized engineering tests.
  • Communicate test intentions and results clearly with team members and customers.
What You Bring to the Table:
  • Proven hands-on experience in electrical/electronic testing.
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical school or Associate's degree in electrical/electronic engineering preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Proficiency with standard hand tools, multi-meters, clamp meters, and PC-based test equipment.
  • Comfortable using both English and Metric measurement systems.
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Capable of completing test records and documentation accurately.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Physically able to climb stairs/ladders and lift, push, or pull up to 40 lbs.
  • Willingness to travel for field assignments as needed.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications is a plus.
Work Environment:
This position is based in a rail maintenance facility and involves both indoor and outdoor work, depending on project needs. You'll be working around active trains and exposed to various weather conditions. Technicians must be comfortable working in the elements—whether it's hot, cold, or wet—and must wear work boots at all times. Strict adherence to safety protocols and quality standards is required to ensure a safe and efficient workplace.
