DETAILS:
• Duration: 6 months Temp to Hire
• Location: College Park, MD
• Salary: $23 - $32/hr depending on experience
• Shift: 5:00 AM – 2:00 PM

We are currently seeking a Function Test Technician in College Park, MD.
Position Summary and Special Duties:
As a Function Test Technician, your day-to-day duties will consist of, but may not be limited to:
Job Details:
• Perform all aspects of work on rail cars being processed.
• Troubleshoot, repair, modify, and perform electrical and mechanical work on rail cars.
• Use standard hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, sockets, etc.), multi-meters, clamp meters, and PC-based test/diagnostic equipment for troubleshooting.
• Read and interpret piping diagrams, mechanical drawings, technical manuals, and electrical schematics to complete job assignments.
Testing Responsibilities:
• Perform test procedures on various systems, including:
- HVAC
- Brakes
- Propulsion
- Communication Systems
- Toilet Systems
- Trainline Systems
- Sign Systems
- Automatic Train Control Systems
- General Functional Tests
- Hipotential Tests
- Wiring Continuity Tests
- Pneumatic Leakage Tests
- Dynamic Tests
- Burn-in Tests
• Occasionally assist and support the engineering group on various engineering tests.
• Interact directly with the customer and clearly communicate test intent and results.
• Fill out all test record sheets, create rejection reports, and complete all required documentation.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Minimum of previous work experience in the electrical/electronic testing field.
• High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical school or an associate’s degree in electrical/electronic engineering preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Proficiency with all basic hand tools.
• Proficiency using multi-meters, clamp meters, and PC-based test equipment.
• Ability to complete test record sheets and create rejection reports.
• Proficiency with the English measurement system and willingness to learn the Metric system.
• Capable of working under pressure with specific deadlines.
• Ability to work flexible hours and any shift.
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders and lift, push, or pull up to 40 lbs.
• Comfortable working in a rail yard environment.
• Willingness to travel for business trips or field assignments as needed.
• Familiarity with MS Office applications.
Work Environment:
The work environment involves working in an active rail yard or manufacturing facility with exposure to both indoor and outdoor conditions. Strict adherence to safety protocols and quality standards is required.
