Location: Rotating across College Park, MD | Alexandria, VA | West Falls Church, VA | Rockville, MD | Sterling, VA
Type: 11-month temp-to-permanent
Pay: $27/hr + Overtime
Hours: Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Start Date: ASAP
Position Overview:
We are hiring Material Control Attendants for a leading rail car manufacturing company with multiple locations across Maryland and Virginia. In this role, you will support material handling, inventory management, and production logistics. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with a background in stockroom or warehousing who thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Handling:
Perform kitting, tracking, and movement of materials per work instructions and drawings
Assemble kits with precision and attention to detail
Maintain shelf locations and complete routine cycle counts
Warehousing:
Handle shipping, receiving, and documentation with accuracy
Maintain a clean, organized stockroom and work area
Inventory Management:
Utilize SAP for inventory verification, transactions, and material transfers
Investigate and resolve discrepancies, providing clear and accurate documentation
Production Support:
Equipment Operation:
Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment
Load and unload trucks and shipping containers
Required Skills & Experience:
3+ years in material control, stockroom, inventory, or a similar role (preferably in manufacturing)
Comfortable with English measurements (willing to learn Metric system)
Strong math and counting skills
Hands-on experience with SAP
Familiar with basic hand tools (e.g., tape measures, hammers, nails)
Able to climb ladders and lift up to 40 lbs
Fluent in English (spoken and written)
Work Environment:
Active rail car maintenance and production facilities
Combination of indoor/outdoor settings depending on project requirements
Must be comfortable working around trains and in varied weather conditions
Steel-toe boots required
Strong safety culture and adherence to quality standards
