Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Accountant to join their dynamic team. In this crucial role, you will optimize payroll operations using UKG, ensuring that processes are efficient and compliant with regulatory standards. Your responsibilities will extend beyond payroll processing to include reconciliations, system maintenance, and handling various ad-hoc analytical requests. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, self-driven, and a collaborative team player with a strong commitment to high-quality work.

Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Processing: Manage and execute payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions, ensuring timely and accurate processing in line with applicable regulations.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain precise and comprehensive records and reports of all payroll transactions.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws, and align payroll practices with industry best standards.
  • Audit Support: Provide well-documented and thorough records to assist with audits.
  • System Optimization: Identify and propose improvements for payroll systems and procedures and implement necessary updates.
  • Additional Tasks: Support payroll operations through various tasks as required.
  • Journal Entries: Prepare payroll and compensation-related journal entries and accruals.
  • Tax Preparation: Assist in the preparation of year-end tax forms, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with leadership and other stakeholders to address and fulfill payroll-related needs effectively.

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in payroll processing and related functions.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of payroll functions, including tax return and general ledger reconciliations, internal controls, and benefit taxation implications.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service abilities.
  • Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (e.g., Pivot Tables, V-Lookups).
  • Expertise in Ultipro/UKG/Kronos payroll software.
