Job Title: Plant Metallurgist
Location: Conway, SC (Onsite)

Job Summary:
The Plant Metallurgist plays a key role in coordinating melt department operations, ensuring workplace safety, supporting engineering projects, and maintaining documentation and compliance systems. This position requires strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Job Functions:
Promote and uphold safety standards; lead by example and conduct Safety and Housekeeping Audits
Coordinate daily operations of the melt department with Melt Supervisors
Serve as the primary liaison for Maintenance/Engineering on non-AR level melt and RMSB repairs/projects
Support RMSB charge coordination, raw materials inventory, chemistry control, and melt processes as needed
Maintain the melt department webpage and plant-wide communications for 24-hour operations
Develop, review, and update ISO 9000 procedures, work instructions, and melt-related documentation
Participate in quality control processes, including resolution of Corrective Action Requests (CARs)
Assist in melt X-trials, data/sample collection, and interpretation of results
Perform additional duties as assigned
Key Success Factors:
Effectively communicate safety expectations and work practices
Drive webpage and internal communication initiatives in melt areas
Gather and incorporate process improvement feedback from plant personnel
Continuously revise and improve melt area ISO documentation
Collaborate with crew leaders to meet casting production and quality goals
Work closely with engineers and metallurgists on trials and improvement plans

Comfortable spending 60%+ of time on the plant floor
Capable of delivering PowerPoint presentations to leadership and staff
Able to perform hands-on physical tasks when necessary
Education & Experience Requirements:
BS degree in Chemical Engineering or Materials Science (required)
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
Must have a Metallurgist background
Proven experience working with R&D, Quality, and Procurement teams
Highly organized and proficient in MS Office applications
