Tax Accountant

TAX ACCOUNTANT

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare and file property and sales tax returns for various locations.
• Manage local revenue, Unincorporated Business Tax, and commercial rent tax submissions.
• Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual surveys and reporting requirements across jurisdictions.
• Reconcile non-resident and Pass-Through Entity withholdings and tax payments.
• Research tax obligations for potential new business jurisdictions.
• Prepare workpapers for quarterly estimates and file estimated tax returns.
• Oversee the distribution of tax and financial reports.
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of 1099 Forms.
• Collaborate with the Accounts Payable and Payroll departments regarding tax filings and reporting as needed.
• Gather documentation and work with external accountants during tax examinations and audits.
• Provide ad hoc reporting as requested by the Finance Manager or Director of Finance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates should possess a combination of relevant experience and education. All applicants who meet the following criteria will be considered:

• CPA certification or a master’s degree in accounting preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience in public accounting, focusing on tax (audit experience with tax exposure is also acceptable).
• Experience with modified cash basis accounting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
