Position Purpose
The AOI Operator is responsible for operating Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) equipment to inspect printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), identify defects, and ensure products meet company, customer, and IPC quality standards. This role plays a key part in maintaining product quality in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment.
Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Operate AOI inspection equipment to inspect PCB assemblies for defects
Load, recall, and run inspection programs per work order and job traveler
Identify true defects vs. false calls and document inspection results accurately
Log defects and inspection data using internal quality systems
Communicate inspection trends, defects, and issues to Quality and Engineering teams
Escalate recurring issues or abnormal findings to supervisors or programmers
Maintain attention to detail while working in a high-volume production environment
Follow IPC-A-610 standards and internal quality procedures
Maintain a clean, organized, and ESD-compliant work area
Adhere to all safety policies including OSHA and company safety guidelines
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
1–3 years of experience operating AOI equipment in an electronics manufacturing environment preferred
Ability to identify electronic components and common PCB defects
Experience reading work instructions, travelers, and inspection criteria
Familiarity with IPC-A-610 standards preferred
Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting
