CNC Machinist – Manual Lathe (1st Shift)
Location: East Granby, CT 06026
Type: Temp-to-Perm (600+ hours)
Pay: $25–$35/hr depending on experience
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
First Day Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Perform complex setups and operate Manual VTLs and manual lathes (Mazak, Mori-Seiki, Leblond)
• Run established production jobs and NPI (new product introduction) jobs with minimal supervision
• Edit programs and make adjustments to ensure parts meet specifications
• Machine plasma coatings, K/E seals, and rotating aircraft components
• Read and interpret blueprints, operations sheets, and related technical documents
• Verify dimensions using micrometers, depth gauges, height gauges, and verniers
• Work with Engineering on material conditions, part positioning, tooling pressures, and setup improvements
• Detect faulty operations or materials and report issues to supervision
• Follow safety requirements, machine guarding standards, and PPE guidelines
• Maintain clean work areas and follow Lean, 6S, and continuous improvement practices
• Work flexible hours or overtime to support customer deadlines
• Provide training to other team members as required
Qualifications
• 3–5 years machining experience in an aerospace environment
• 3+ years setting up and operating Manual VTLs and manual lathes
• Familiar with Mazak, Mori-Seiki, and Leblond equipment
• Experience machining plasma coatings and K/E seals on aircraft rotating parts
• Strong math skills and working knowledge of GD&T
• Familiar with Statistical Process Control (SPC)
• Willing to learn basic CNC programming
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word
Education
• High school diploma or GED required
