Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead all EHS functions for a busy 24/7 metal manufacturing facility in Conway, SC. This leadership role manages two Training & Safety Coordinators and is responsible for environmental compliance, safety programs, regulatory compliance, employee training, permitting, and continuous improvement initiatives. The position also supports a Massachusetts facility and provides technical assistance to overseas operations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing EHS leadership, with particular strength in environmental compliance including permitting, storm water management, and RCRA.
Responsibilities
- Lead all Environmental, Health & Safety activities for the Conway, SC facility while supporting the Massachusetts location and overseas operations.
- Manage and mentor two Training & Safety Coordinators.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS policies, programs, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, RCRA, DOT, TSCA, Title V Air Permit, Tier II, Form R, and other applicable regulations.
- Support plant growth through environmental permitting and regulatory approvals.
- Lead accident, incident, injury, and near-miss investigations.
- Develop and deliver safety training and PowerPoint presentations for employees, management, corporate leadership, and international teams.
- Conduct monthly plant-wide safety meetings for approximately 200 employees.
- Lead the Safety Committee and facilitate monthly meetings.
- Manage storm water testing, reporting, tracking, and SWPPP compliance.
- Partner with Maintenance on PPE programs, security systems, vendor management, and facility safety initiatives.
- Work cross-functionally with Quality, Operations, Engineering, and HR to improve safety and operational performance.
- Maintain SDS documentation and ensure compliance with TSCA, REACH, and RoHS requirements.
- Administer Hearing Conservation Program including noise monitoring, training, and audiometric compliance.
- Oversee Industrial Hygiene monitoring and air sampling programs.
- Support workers' compensation case management and return-to-work efforts.
- Participate in evening conference calls with overseas facilities as needed.
- Travel to the Massachusetts facility several times per year.
- Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT).
- Be available after hours for emergency response when required.
Required Qualifications
Must Have
- 2+ years managing or leading an EHS department within a manufacturing environment.
- Recent experience in industrial manufacturing (metal manufacturing strongly preferred).
- Experience with environmental permitting.
- Experience with Storm Water Pollution Prevention (SWPPP).
- Experience with RCRA regulations and hazardous waste compliance.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA compliance and safety program development.
- Experience managing workers' compensation cases.
- Ability to foster and improve a strong safety culture.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to relocate or currently live within 30 minutes of the Conway, SC facility.

Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, or a related technical discipline preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive EHS experience within manufacturing leadership.
Additional Requirements
- Must be clean shaven (trimmed mustache or goatee acceptable) as this position is part of the Emergency Response Team requiring respirator use.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced 24/7 manufacturing environment.
- Must be available after hours, weekends, and holidays by phone and onsite when emergency situations arise.
