Job Title: Senior CNC Milling Machinist
Location: Shelton, CT (Onsite)
Salary: $28–35 DOE
Hours: Monday–Friday, 1st Shift
Duration: 4-Month Contract-to-Hire
Position Summary and Special Duties
We are seeking an experienced CNC Milling Machinist to perform high-precision machining in a fast-paced, short-run production environment. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in accuracy, ownership of their work, and efficient setups. You’ll be responsible for operating multiple machines, reading and editing G-code, and producing high-quality components with minimal supervision.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Setting up and operating CNC milling machines for short-run production
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and process procedures
Inspecting parts using precision measuring instruments and gauges
Reading, understanding, and performing minor edits to G-code programs
Performing machining operations on two machines within a work cell
Applying strong shop math, trigonometry, and geometry skills for setups and offsets
Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area
Following all safety and environmental regulations, and reporting any incidents to the Supervisor or Manufacturing Manager
Working independently while maintaining productivity and accuracy expectations
Job Specifications
Required Skills & Qualifications:
5–10 years of CNC milling machine setup and operation experience
Demonstrated experience in short-run production machining
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and workmanship
Ability to work with minimal supervision in a production environment
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, prints, and written procedures
Proficiency with measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.)
Ability to read, understand, and edit G-code
Solid math skills: shop math, trigonometry, and geometry
Proven commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining a clean work environment
Strong ownership of quality and personal work output
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):
Experience operating in multi-machine work cells
Exposure to continuous improvement or lean manufacturing environments
Prior experience with small-batch or prototype machining
