Description
Develops and manages SMT assembly and soldering processes, ensuring production readiness and quality in a medium to high-mix complex PCBA environment. Partners with engineering teams and staff to optimize processes, resolve issues, and improve design and manufacturability.
Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Plan and develop processes and capacity utilization strategies for SMT assembly operations
Oversee solder paste printing, automated solder paste inspection, component placement, reflow soldering, automated optical inspection, automated X-ray inspection (2D and 5D)
Identify and resolve production and quality issues
Ensure production readiness of key processes in the PCB assembly cycle
Design experiments to optimize production processes such as solder paste selection, stencil design, feeder setup methodology, and selective soldering techniques
Optimize machine setup and programming sequences
Troubleshoot to root-cause equipment and process-related problems
Write Pre- and Post-build DFM reports in a customer-centric manner
Manipulate data files using Gerber, ODB++, CAD packages, and 3D modeling tools such as SolidWorks
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Preferred Certifications
IPC-A-610 Solder Inspection Training
Component Identification Certification
CPIM or equivalent industry certification
