We are currently seeking a Material Control Expediter in Long Island City, NY.
Position Summary and Special Duties:
As a Material Control Expediter, your day-to-day duties will consist of, but may not be limited to:
Job Details:
• Compile and maintain material parts inventory and status to support production schedules and priorities.
• Monitor production schedules, shop orders, and inventory reports to determine material requirements and availability.
• Coordinate with department supervisors to identify overdue orders and provide status updates.
• Locate and distribute materials to designated production areas to support workflow.
• Expedite the movement of materials between departments to prevent production delays.
• Direct Material Control Attendants as needed to ensure timely material flow.
• Inspect incoming materials, verify part numbers, and resolve discrepancies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues that delay production or order completion.
Production & Coordination Responsibilities:
• Act as a liaison between Purchasing, Production, and Engineering to ensure timely material delivery.
• Communicate schedules, deadlines, and material status across departments.
• Execute action items and follow up on open issues impacting production flow.
• Monitor and adjust material flow based on production demands and schedule changes.
• Support continuous workflow by proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Maintain accurate inventory tracking and documentation.
• Assist in improving material handling processes and efficiency.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of materials to prevent damage or loss.
• Support overall production goals by maintaining consistent material availability.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in material control, stockroom, or related role in manufacturing.
• Experience coordinating materials across multiple departments.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and production documentation.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with production, purchasing, and engineering teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic and maintain accurate counts.
• Familiarity with both English and Metric measurement systems.
• Ability to use hand tools and tape measures.
• Forklift experience or willingness to learn.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to climb stairs/ladders and lift, push, or pull up to 40 lbs.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Work Environment:
The work environment involves working in an active manufacturing facility with exposure to shop floor conditions. Strict adherence to safety protocols and production standards is required.
