Position Overview
We are currently seeking a Quality Control Inspector to support rail car manufacturing operations at our Arch Street facility in Long Island City, NY.
Responsibilities
As a Quality Control Inspector, your day-to-day duties will include, but are not limited to:
Perform Quality Control (QC) inspections on rail car parts and sub-assemblies
Conduct visual inspections to ensure conformance to quality standards and identify non-conformances
Perform all work in accordance with engineering drawings, written procedures, and verbal/written instructions
Use inspection tools including scales, tape measures, calipers, micrometers, combination squares, and other measuring equipment
Inspect parts, equipment, and installations on rail car bodies for accuracy and compliance
Work confidently with both English and Metric measurement systems
Accurately document inspection results in reports and related quality documentation
Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude
Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints across all inspection phases, including:
Part Fabrication
Receiving
Metal Matching
Sub-Assembly
Shell Assembly
Truck Assembly & Test
Interior and Cab
Exterior
Under-floor
Source inspections
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of experience in a Quality Control / Inspection role
Ability to work independently and perform final inspection of a complete rail car
Proficient with measuring instruments (tape measures, calipers, micrometers, etc.)
Comfortable working in an active manufacturing environment
Physically capable of climbing stairs/ladders and lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 40 lbs
Work Environment
This role is based in a rail car manufacturing facility at Arch Street, Long Island City, NY, with exposure to both indoor and outdoor conditions. Strict adherence to safety and quality standards is required.
