Job Title: Rail Car Technician
Location: Bronx, NY
Shifts Available:
1st Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
2nd Shift: Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Duration: 6 Months Temp-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $24.62/hr (based on experience)
Benefits: Optional cafeteria-style benefits while on contract; full benefits available upon permanent hire
Position Overview:
We are actively hiring Rail Car Technicians for a rail maintenance facility located in the Bronx, NY. This is a hands-on role requiring both mechanical and electrical aptitude. Ideal candidates will have experience in automotive, avionics, or military technical environments.
Responsibilities:
Mechanical:
Perform precise metal finishing
Follow blueprints, procedures, and verbal instructions to complete rail car setups
Create production aids (templates, jigs, fixtures) to support work
Execute repairs on various rail car materials
Operate hand and power tools (electric and pneumatic)
Electrical:
Assemble wire harnesses and terminate wire ends
Route complex cable/wire systems (cabs, lockers, train line boxes)
Read and troubleshoot electrical schematics
Perform soldering for wire connections
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience with mechanical repairs and electrical wiring
Ability to read technical documentation, blueprints, and schematics
Troubleshooting skills in both mechanical and electrical systems
Comfortable working indoors and outdoors
Background in the US Military, automotive, or avionics industries strongly preferred
Follows safety protocols and demonstrates high attention to detail
Must be flexible with shift schedules and project requirements
Work Environment:
This role is based in a rail car maintenance facility with a mix of indoor and outdoor work. All work is performed under strict safety and quality guidelines.
