Job Title: Refrigeration Technicians (Multiple Openings — Direct Hire)
Location: Portsmouth, NH
Positions Available:
• Refrigeration Technician I – 2nd Shift (2:30 PM–11:00 PM) — $38–$42/hr DOE + $0.75 shift diff + $5K sign-on
• Junior Refrigeration Technician – 3rd Shift (Hours TBD) — $32–$35/hr DOE + $3K sign-on
Schedule: Mostly Monday–Friday, every other Saturday; Sunday is paid double time

SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE
Support and maintain ammonia-based industrial refrigeration systems within a high-volume frozen food manufacturing environment. Ensure safe, compliant, and reliable operation of critical utilities by performing inspections, planned maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and system adjustments in alignment with IIAR, ASHRAE, and OSHA standards. Partner across departments to minimize downtime, protect product integrity, and drive continuous improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair ammonia refrigeration systems and supporting utilities
Perform planned maintenance on compressors, air compressors, boilers, pumps, HVAC, electrical controls, and fans
Conduct periodic inspections to diagnose malfunctions and determine corrective actions
Monitor system performance to prevent unplanned failures and reduce production downtime
Assist in capital refrigeration projects to ensure on-time and on-budget execution
Maintain and test fire prevention and emergency response systems
Support general building/maintenance functions as required
Document work performed, complete work orders, and track asset performance
Uphold all site safety policies while working with hazardous materials
Contribute to process improvement initiatives and cross-functional alignment
MUST HAVES / QUALIFICATIONS
3+ years of HVAC or refrigeration experience (ammonia strongly preferred)
Experience in industrial, food manufacturing, or regulated environments preferred
Understanding of preventive maintenance scheduling and emergency response
Knowledge of OSHA safety practices and compliance in refrigeration systems
Strong troubleshooting ability and comfort with both tools and technology
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Must be at least 18 years old (subject to verification post-offer)
