• Duration: Direct Hire
• Location: Arch Street, Long Island City, NY
• Salary: $76,731 (based on experience)
• Shift: 1st Shift, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Monday – Friday)
• Benefits: Full Benefits, including Medical, Dental, and Vision
We are currently seeking a Site Safety Coordinator in Long Island City, NY.
Position Summary and Special Duties:
As a Site Safety Coordinator, your day-to-day duties will consist of, but may not be limited to:
Job Details:
• Perform new hire safety orientation and ensure all personnel are trained on site-specific safety requirements.
• Enforce all safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
• Identify and immediately stop unsafe acts or conditions; escalate issues to management.
• Maintain first aid equipment and ensure all safety equipment is properly stocked and operational.
• Monitor fire hazards and serve as fire watch when required.
• Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for hazardous materials.
• Ensure proper use and availability of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Maintain safe, clean, and organized work environments to prevent incidents.
Safety & Compliance Responsibilities:
• Conduct routine and weekly safety inspections to identify and correct hazards.
• Investigate accidents, injuries, and near-misses; prepare detailed reports.
• Ensure compliance with lockout/tagout procedures and equipment usage.
• Coordinate respirator fit testing and employee safety training programs.
• Monitor welding, cutting, brazing, and spray finishing operations for compliance.
• Ensure adherence to fall protection, crane, and hoist safety requirements.
• Communicate safety performance metrics and improvement plans to management.
• Administer disciplinary actions related to safety violations when necessary.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Coordinate with management, field personnel, and regulatory agencies to maintain compliance.
• Maintain all safety documentation, logs, and required postings.
• Support emergency response planning and ensure team readiness.
• Assist visitors and contractors in complying with site safety requirements.
• Promote a proactive safety culture through training and continuous improvement.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional safety or technical education preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification required (or ability to obtain).
• Experience in industrial safety, manufacturing, transportation, or related environment preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and general safety regulations.
• Experience with PPE, forklift safety, crane operations, and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Strong training and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and reporting systems.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment:
The work environment involves active manufacturing and rail yard conditions with both indoor and outdoor exposure. Candidates must be comfortable working in varying weather conditions and around heavy equipment.
• Must wear steel-toe boots and required PPE at all times
• Frequent walking, standing, climbing required
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 40 lbs
• Work performed near rail cars, machinery, and active operations
