Position Purpose
The Solderer is responsible for performing high-quality hand soldering and assembly of electronic components on printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs). This role supports production by ensuring assemblies meet workmanship, quality, and IPC standards in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment.
Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Perform hand soldering of through-hole and surface mount components on PCB assemblies
Inspect solder joints for workmanship, defects, and conformance to IPC standards
Read and follow assembly drawings, work instructions, and job travelers
Identify and correct solder defects such as cold joints, bridges, and insufficient solder
Use soldering irons, microscopes, and hand tools safely and effectively
Rework and touch-up assemblies as required
Maintain accurate documentation of work performed
Communicate quality issues or recurring defects to supervisors or Quality team
Maintain clean, organized, and ESD-compliant workstations
Follow all safety, quality, and company procedures
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
1–3 years of hands-on soldering experience in an electronics manufacturing environment preferred
Experience with through-hole and SMT soldering
Ability to identify electronic components and read basic schematics or assembly drawings
IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 certification preferred (or ability to obtain)
Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting
