Staff Accountant

A growing and highly respected professional services organization is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its finance team in Trumbull, CT. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with accounting leadership while supporting core financial operations, month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, and compliance-related accounting functions.
Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and support month-end close activities.
- Maintain general ledger accuracy and assist with financial reporting.
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash reconciliations.
- Support audit and tax preparation activities.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Work collaboratively with finance, operations, and business stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 3-7 years of accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience in professional services, financial services, banking, wealth management, real estate, title insurance, nonprofit, or similar environments preferred.
Highly Desired Experience
We welcome candidates with experience in:
- Trust accounting or IOLTA compliance
- Escrow account reconciliation
- Fiduciary or wealth management accounting
- Fund accounting
- Treasury or banking operations accounting
- Restricted fund accounting
