Location: Pitkin & Coney Island Yards – Brooklyn, NY
 Shifts Available:
  • 1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Monday – Friday)
  • 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM (Monday – Friday)
  • 3rd Shift: 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM (Monday – Friday)
     Salary: $71,000 – $82,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
     Type: Direct Hire
 
Job Description
The Supervisor, Warranty is responsible for directing and coordinating all warranty-related activities at the site, ensuring customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and compliance with policies and contractual obligations. This position requires hands-on leadership within an active rail car environment, overseeing the daily activities of both technical and clerical personnel, managing vendor warranty performance, and maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient work site.
The Warranty Supervsior must be able to develop and implement strategies that align with, effectively manage personnel, and ensure all warranty work is completed accurately, efficiently, and within budget.
 
Essential Functions
  • Develop appropriate business strategies aligned with Management Policy.
  • Manage personnel effectively—select, train, develop, and counsel employees, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Plan for succession of key personnel and administer discipline in accordance with company policy.
  • Establish and enforce work standards, schedules, and methods for department operations.
  • Review employee work for quality and timeliness; correct performance deficiencies as needed.
  • Approve employee schedules and time reports.
  • Directly responsible for site activities during assigned shift and coordinate daily operations on rail cars delivered to the customer.
  • Supervise clerical and technical personnel, ensuring quality workmanship and compliance with and customer procedures.
  • Monitor and control labor hours to maintain site budget and minimize overtime.
  • Prepare and coordinate daily work schedules, tracking completion and progress with the customer.
  • Audit and submit daily vouchers and reports for all personnel under supervision.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and professional work environment at all times.
  • Ensure all employees adhere strictt safety policies.
  • Coordinate and implement product modifications and repairs promptly.
  • Manage vendor and subcontractor warranty activities, ensuring compliance with their obligations and timely documentation submission.
  • Interface effectively with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Customer teams to resolve technical issues and meet warranty expectations.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and communication with site management.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience in warranty, production, quality, or engineering, or 3 years of mechanical/technical experience with supervisory responsibilities.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude; proficient in both English and Metric measurement systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer and reporting skills (Microsoft Office Suite preferred).
  • Comfortable working in an active rail car environment under time-sensitive conditions.
  • Strong organization, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple priorities.
  • Professional demeanor when interacting with customer representatives.
  • Ability to climb stairs/ladders and lift/push/pull up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to adapt to dynamic, changing site requirements.
 
Work Environment
This role operates in active rail yard environments (Pitkin and Coney Island Yards) and requires both indoor and outdoor work. Conditions may include exposure to heat, cold, rain, or snow.
  • Must wear steel-toe work boots and appropriate PPE at all times.
  • Requires working around moving rail cars, heavy equipment, and confined spaces while following all safety protocols.
  • Involves standing, climbing, bending, and walking for extended periods.
  • Collaboration with vendors, customers, and multiple internal departments is routine.
